Yes on Gay Marriage Organization Formed to Support Gay Marriage Across the United States

Sacramento, CA – Today, supporters of the rights of marriage for gay and lesbian couples announced the formation of their organization at yesongaymarriage.org.

Yes on Gay Marriage is an organization formed to work for the rights of gay marriage in all fifty states, repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and recognition by the federal government. We will work with the LGBT community and its supporters to legalize Gay Marriage across the United States through public education, advocacy, state and federal lobbying, and community organizing.

Yes on Gay Marriage is comprised of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender, and heterosexual individuals, families, communities and organizations. We are united in our goal for the civil rights of gay marriage in our country. Our full website will be available in late January 2009.

We are organizing a 2009 National March on Washington in support of Gay Marriage to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the first National March by gay rights supporters.

With our recent efforts in California, Florida, Arizona, and many other states, supporters of gay marriage have become organized and active as never before. Yes on Gay Marriage welcomes the granting of rights currently denied to the LGBT community, but does not support establishing ‘separate but equal’ institutions such as ‘civil unions’. We believe Americans should never be forced to settle for second-best.
